why natural?

if you wouldn’t eat it, why would you put it on your skin? recent research has shown  that 60% or more of what you put on your skin penetrates & ends up in the bloodstream, organs tissues & glands.  to keep it simple .... anything that is not natural has the potential to cause health problems. be careful - many companies make the claim of “natural” which, because the word is not yet regulated - is a matter of opinion of the manufacturer.

some companies list ingredients such as plant derived olechemicals as natural. these substances are processed at extremely high heat (500 -1000F) and high pressure(1200#/sq inch) specifically to alter the chemical/ molecular structure  of the substance.

saying this is natural is like saying “hydrogenated fats” are natural. this is just one  example in hundreds.
 
why organic?

if it is not organic, the ingredients are processed with pesticides, herbacides, hormones, etc. which are known endocrine distruptors and some even carcinogens. for the same reason that you would choose to eat organic foods, you should choose organic personal care. because there are some “allowable ingredients” in organic products that are not natural, you should choose products that are organic  & natural, because the are not synonymous and mean 2 different things.

emotion potions sometimes chooses “wildcrafted , sustainable” ingredients as opposed to organic. this means they were harvested from nature in their natural environment & grown without exposure to chemicals.

 

let’s take a brief look at the different ingredients being used and how they may harm your health. 

many of these toxic ingredients fall into multiple or all of
these categories:
 
endocrine disruptors/ xenohormones - alter the hormone balance of the body. 2 main communication systems exist in the body: nervous system &
endocrine system (hormone system). xeno-estrogens are like fake estrogen except the body thinks they are real estrogen, which results in a multitude of health problems in men & women, due to excessive estrogen levels (estrogen dominance). 

xenoestrogens can cause excessive proliferation of certain tissues & have been implicated as a cause of anything from fertility issues, pms, fibroid tumors, endometriosis & fibrocystic breast disease to ovarian & breast cancer.

they have also been implicated as a cause of certain male reproductive disorders, and have been referred to as “chemical castration”.  one of the most notorious xenoestrogens is DDT, which has been known to persist in human fat cells for decades after exposure. other endocrine disruptors / xenohormones can disrupt immune function & mimic or distrupt other hormone balance such as steroids, & even thyroid & adrenal hormones.

for example, oleochemicals & hydrogenated ingredients, fatty acids & stearates (often vegetable-derived) inhibit prostaglandins (hormome-like messengers).

synthetic fragrances fall into  this category of endocrine distruptors - which is one of the factors that prompted dr maples to  develop emotion potions, as she found that hormone balance is nearly impossible to achieve if a patient continues to lather, slather & spray themselves with products full of synthetic fragrences and chemicals.

ultimately, you can’t achieve optimal health without achieving hormone balance first. emotion potions products are scented only with all-natural essential oils which are aromatic oils of flowers & plants.
 
carcinogens - substances known to cause cancer.  one of the problems with this category is that some substances simply cause cancer, however, others
cause cancer through a  chemical reactions that take place between the multitude of substances being mixed together.

an example of this would be “DEA” (diethanolamine - cocamide DEA,  cocamide MEA, DEA-cetyl phosphate, DEA oleth-3 phosphate, lauramide DEA, monoethanolamine MEA Myristamide DEA,  oleamide DEA, stearamide MEA, TEA-lauryl sulfate triethanolamine -TEA).

these substance react with nitrites to form highly potent
carcinogenic nitrosamines. nitrosamines have been shown to rapidly penetrate the skin.  regular use of DEA containing products has been linked to the major increase in the incidence of liver and kidney cancers.

the Federal National Toxicology Program announced that these toxic substances not only rapidly penetrate the skin, but also accumulate in the brain & other organs.
 
neurotoxins - chemicals or substances that directly interfere with the normal function of the nervous system
irritants - known to cause or worsen symptoms such as  eye, nose & throat irritation, coughing, asthma attacks, shortness of breath, nausea, vomiting, skin rashes, nose bleeds, headaches & dizziness, and others.
